Christian Devil Dog
First, I am a believer in Jesus, and when he said the most important law is to love God, and the second is to love your neighbor as yourself. I believe that needs to be lived out no matter what you are doing. I carry several titles at church, such as men’s group leader, video production leader, Worship team member (sign language interpreter), and Usher (as needed).
I also believe in the fellowship and camaraderie of Marines, as exemplified by my participation in many many MCL and MODD events, both local and state level. I have worn and am wearing many hats both past and present in both the Marine Corps League and the Military order of the Devil Dogs. The desire to surround myself with highly motivated, truly dedicated romping, stomping, little green amphibians has guided me to the 10% of the membership that does 90% of the work. That is why I have a passion for the military order of the Devil dogs currently, I am an Honorable Deputy Police Dog, worthy Pack Leader, and Sir Pound Keeper. Receiving the “Carter award,” Southeast Division marine of the year is a tremendous honor, which left me speechless at the awards banquet. I believe this is not just a great honor of recognition, but it is also one of the most significant challenge coins a Marine Corps League member can receive.

Gunny Wm. D. "Bill" Carter was a Marine's Marine serving his country willingly, with pride and enthusiasm above and be-
yond the call. He possessed that unique quality of always putting the welfare and better- ment of his Marines as the top priority.
He served his Detachment in Pensacola, the department of Florida and the Southeast Divi- sion in the same manner as he served the Corps.
Gunny Carter personified the mission of our League by his unending and tireless efforts to serve his community, Ma- rines and their families.
Our motto Semper Fidelis was part of Bill's character. In his dealings with God, Country Corps and Family he was steady in his practice of being
A humble man who shunned the limelight was definitely in the forefront as an American, a Marine and a Leaguer.
At the time of his death Gunny Carter was serving as National Aide de Camp for the Southeast Division.
